BEACH

SASKIA REIS portraits the poetry of "la dolce vita", which comes to life in pure perfection on a day out alla spiaggia. The Berlin-based visual artist has been shooting her series "BEACH" on 35 mm film in Tuscany, Rome and Sardinia for several years now. Through panting over the analogue images she creates abstraction from specific identities, and underlines the universal experience of relaxation, peace and beauty. The good life is a practice which can be trained like a muscle. Sequences of joy and pleasure, easy, yet realized with the conscious effort to live the moment. To enjoy means to self-empower from the pressure to perform, and just be.

The visuals are accompanied by short texts – assumptions and made-up short stories of what might go through the person’s mind in this moment of time.
